Francis X. Archambault Jr. is professor emeritus at the University of Connecticut and a member of its Board of Trustees. Following completion of his Ph.D. at UConn, Mr. Archambault was an assistant professor at Boston University and later was a social scientist at Abt Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He returned to UConn to join the faculty in 1978. Mr. Archambault served the University as a department head, associate dean, interim executive director of information technology, and interim vice chancellor. He is the author or co-author of numerous professional publications. He has conducted research, evaluations and policy analyses for a variety of governmental agencies and private organizations at the national (National Science Foundation, Department of Education, National Institute of Education), state and local levels. Mr. Archambault has been chair of the local Board of Education, and is founding chair of the Edwin O. Smith Foundation.

Mr. Archambault holds a bachelorís degree from Providence College and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Storrs.

Richard M. Barry is the chief credit officer and executive vice president at First Niagara Financial Group. Prior to this, he was chief credit officer of Citizens Financial Group and president of Citizens Bank, Connecticut. He serves on the boards of the Urban League of Greater Hartford (as chairman), the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce, the Hartford Economic Development Corporation, and the Connecticut Bankers Association. He also is an overseer of the Bushnell Performing Arts Center and past board member of the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. Additionally, Gov. M. Jodi Rell appointed him to the Commission for the Economic Diversification of Southeastern Connecticut.

Mr. Barry has an M.B.A. from Babson College and a bachelorís degree in finance from Bentley College. He lives in Avon.

Andy F. Bessette is executive vice president and chief administrative officer of The Travelers Companies, Inc. He has responsibility for the functions of Corporate Real Estate, Administrative Services, Community Affairs, Aviation, Internal Investigations, Event Management, Business Continuity, and Sports Sponsorships including the company's official marketing partnership with the PGA TOUR and title sponsorship of the Travelers Championship. During his 29-year tenure with the company, Mr. Bessette has held a number of management positions across the enterprise.

He consistently has been involved with civic activities, both in Hartford and in the Twin Cities. He is the immediate past chair of the board for the Metro Hartford Alliance, as well as on the board for the University of Connecticut Foundation, board of trustees of Trinity College and board of the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford.

Mr. Bessette holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and a master's degree from the University of Rhode Island.

Francisco L. Borges is chairman and managing partner of Landmark Partners Inc., an alternative investment firm in Simsbury. He was Connecticutís state treasurer from 1986 to 1993, and also has served as deputy mayor of Hartford, managing director of the Financial Guaranty Insurance Co., and legal counsel for the Travelers Insurance Co.

Mr. Borges is also a member of the Selected Funds and Assured Guaranty board of directors and the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Board of Trustees, is a former treasurer of the National NAACP, and has been recognized with numerous local and national awards for his public and community service.

Mr. Borges has a bachelorís degree from Trinity College, a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and is a member of the Connecticut and New Jersey bars. He lives in Simsbury.

Cheryl A. Chase is executive vice president, principal and general counsel of Chase Enterprises, a private holding company engaged primarily in commercial real estate development and management. A graduate of Tufts University, she received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1978. Ms. Chase's present affiliations include vice chair of the board of directors of UConn Health, a trustee of the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation, a member of the Connecticut Science Center board of trustees, a trustee of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, and a past director of numerous public and private institutions.

Sanford Cloud Jr. is the chairman and chief executive officer of the Cloud Company, LLC. He is the former president and CEO of the human relations organization National Conference for Community and Justice, which he represented as a member of President Carterís delegation overseeing the first Palestinian elections. Before coming to the NCCJ, he was a partner at Robinson and Cole in Hartford, and prior to that he was vice president of Aetnaís Corporate Public Involvement, and executive director of the Aetna Foundation. He also helped found National Voices for an Inclusive 21st Century, a collaboration of national human relations and civil right organizations.

Mr. Cloud is a former two-term Connecticut state senator and was the primary sponsor of legislation creating the State Department of Housing. He has served on a number of boards, and currently is on the boards of Northeast Utilities, the Phoenix Companies, Inc., Ironwood Mezzanine Fund FP, the Joint Center for Political and Economics Studies, the Thomas J. Dodd Research Center, the Connecticut Health Foundation and the Hartford Courant Foundation.

A Hartford native, Mr. Cloud is a graduate of Howard University College of Liberal Arts and Howard University Law School. He earned a masterís degree in religious studies from the Hartford Seminary. Among his many awards are an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Connecticut, an Honorary Doctor of Social Science from Providence College, and the Outstanding Citizen Award from the Anne Frank Center USA.

Robert S. Dakers is the executive financial officer for the state of Connecticut's Office of Policy and Management (OPM). His previous work with the state has included serving as director of municipal finance services with OPM, the emergency administrative and financial manager for the Waterbury state financial oversight board, the director of administration and finance for the Department of Children and Families, and assistant director of the Bridgeport state financial oversight board. Mr. Dakers joined state government in 1992. He also has worked for the City of Phoenix, Arizona in its Management and Budget Department and the Norwich and Norwalk city governments here in Connecticut.

He is a graduate of Bryant University and earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan.

John F. Droney is a founding principal of the Farmington law firm of Levy & Droney, P.C.

A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, he received his J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1973, where he was a member of the board of editors of the University of Connecticut Law Review.

A Vietnam veteran, he has served as a special state's attorney for the judicial districts of Hartford and Waterbury and is a recipient of the University of Connecticut School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award.

He has lectured at University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac Law Schools and has served on the board of directors of Hartford Neighborhood Legal Services and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

He was the chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee of Connecticut and chairman of the Connecticut Clinton for President campaign.

Susan Herbst took office as the University of Connecticut's 15th president in June 2011 and was formally installed in an inauguration ceremony on September 16, 2011.

Prior to her appointment to the presidency, Herbst served as executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at the University System of Georgia, where she led 15 university presidents and oversaw the academic missions for all 35 public universities in Georgia. Herbst also held a faculty appointment as a professor of public policy at Georgia Tech.

From 2005 to 2007, Herbst was provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at SUNY-Albany and also served as acting president of the school for a year. She served as the dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University from 2003 to 2005.

She began her career at Northwestern University in 1989 and spent 14 years there in a variety of posts, including professor of political science, director of American Studies, and chair of the Department of Political Science.

Born in New York City and raised in the mid-Hudson Valley, Herbst received her B.A. in political science from Duke University in 1984 and her Ph.D. in communication theory and research from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication in Los Angeles in 1989.

Timothy A. Holt retired in 2008 as senior vice president and chief investment officer of Aetna, Inc., where he held many leadership, investment, finance and risk management positions throughout his career. He is currently a director of Virtus Investment Partners and MGIC Investment Corporation. In addition, he provides investment consulting services to insurance companies.

Mr. Holt is a UConn alumnus and has an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He lives in Glastonbury.

Jewel Mullen is the commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH). As commissioner, Dr. Mullen oversees the state's leading public health agency whose mission is to protect and improve the health and safety of Connecticut residents.

Prior to joining the department, Dr. Mullen was director of the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, leading the department's divisions of Prevention and Wellness, Violence and Injury Prevention, and Primary Care and Health Access, and an Office of Statistics and Evaluation. While there, Dr. Mullen served as the state's chronic disease director and was the principal investigator for a Chronic Disease Integration Demonstration project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

With a professional focus on the intersection of public health and primary care, Dr. Mullen began her clinical career as a member of the National Health Service Corps at Bellevue Hospital in New York. She also is the former medical director of Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. As a clinician educator, she has served on the medical school faculty at New York University, the University of Virginia, Yale and Tufts. Recently, she was appointed to the Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer Young Women, a federal committee established under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Dr. Mullen is a graduate of Yale University and Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Teresa M. Ressel is active across private company management. Her financial and leadership experience spans health care, defense, manufacturing and financial services over 20 years within the private sector and the U.S. Treasury.

From 2004 until 2012, Ms. Ressel served as the chief operating officer for UBS Securities LLC and the chief operating officer, UBS Americas. Prior to UBS, she was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as assistant secretary for management and chief financial officer of the Department of Treasury. Prior to government service and banking, Ms. Ressel served as an executive at Kaiser Permanente leading regulatory compliance, change management, and financial matters related to corporate governance including government services contracts.

Ms. Ressel graduated from the University of Delaware, College of Engineering with a B.S. and M.S. in engineering. She completed her M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She currently is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, which is an independent non-partisan organization fostering education and thoughtful engagement across the spectrum of foreign policy and analysis.

Robert T. Samuels was one of the founders of ABS Development Company, a shopping centers development firm. Prior to forming ABS, he served as president and chief operating officer of First National Supermarkets before selling his interest in 1988.

He attended Adelbert College, Case Western Reserve University, in Cleveland. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and the board of chancellors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in New York. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Institute of Living.

Wayne J. Shepperd is the director of Economic Development for the City of Danbury. He was appointed to the position in 2005 after a 33-year career at The News-Times in Danbury. That same year he was nominated by Governor M. Jodi Rell to the University of Connecticut board of trustees where he continues to serve. Mr. Shepperd has been heavily involved in community service in the greater Danbury area for more than 25 years and, among other activities, is currently the host city chairman of the Nutmeg State Games, a member of the Housatonic Valley Sports Organizing Committee and the Boughton Street YMCA board of directors. He is a former chairman of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a former president of the Connecticut Daily Newspaper Association.

Mr. Shepperd is a graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.

Kathleen D. Woods is a former vice president at various Bank of America institutions (prior to the merger and acquisition of local and regional New England banks) focusing primarily on corporate trust and investment activities in the municipal, health care, higher education and housing arena in New England. As a business development officer and account relationship manager, Kathleen has extensive experience in the administration of trustee services in connection with debt financings. Kathleen currently serves as chairperson of the Farmington Woods Golf Club and is a member of the Finance Committee of the Farmington Woods Master Association. She has been a member of Government Finance Officers Association, the Connecticut Womenís Council and the board of the Downtown Hartford YMCA. Kathleen is a graduate of Bryant University with a B.S. in business administration.
